Camps and outdoor activity provider insurance checklist
If you are a camps or outdoor activity provider you may need to consider the following insurances to protect yourself:
Property – Buildings & Contents: Covers damage or loss to buildings, contents and stock caused by insured events for example fire and other perils such as lightning, storm, other natural weather perils, impact, malicious damage and accidental damage.
Business Interruption: Covers loss of income as a result of an insured peril occurring (refer to above). In simple terms it protects your fixed expenses, increased working costs and profit margin.
Public Liability: Covers you and your business against the financial risk of being found liable to a third party for death or injury, loss or damage of property resulting from your negligence happening in connection with your business.
Professional Indemnity (PI): Provides financial protection for companies and individuals for claims made against them in the course of carrying out their professional services.
Management Liability: Covers the legal liability of directors & officers for action taken against them because of wrongful acts committed whilst they perform their duties. Management liability covers the business, its directors, officers and employees against a range of employment related claims such as wrongful dismissal, misrepresentation, wrongful failure to employ or promote, and theft by employee.
Burglary: Covers loss of goods as a result of forcible entry into your building. Theft, without forcible entry, is sometimes available, but comes at an increased cost.
Machinery breakdown: Covers mechanical or electrical breakdown of insured equipment or computers. Can be extended to include economic loss as a result of the machinery/computers being down.
Commercial Motor: Cover for sedans, utilities, vans trucks, or any other vehicles owned by your business.
Income Protection: Covers part of your regular income if you are prevented from working due to illness or injury.
Workers’ compensation: A compulsory statutory form of insurance for all employers in every state and territory in Australia and provides protection to workers if they suffer a work-related injury.
